ETA Dubai in Kolkata

ETA Star Appliances, a fully owned subsidiary of the $5 billion ETA Ascon Star Group of Dubai, was planning to introduce built-in micro-ovens and dish-washers by August this year and open 37 stores under the brand name 'Star home' in India this year.

According to Suresh Bandi, senior GM-marketing, ETA Star Appliances, "We will open two stores in Kolkata, one in Guwahati and one in Bhubaneswar this year to sell all ETA Group products."

ETA appliances were in the premium category, with built-in micro-ovens at around Rs 34,000 and dish-washers priced between Rs 26,000 and Rs 36,000.

ETA, in India from February 2008, aimed to do business worth Rs 300 crore in the first year and Rs 1,000 crore in three years.
