Automotive supplier Valeo is launching a fully-integrated compact electric powertrain system in India, which the company says will aid electrification of small mobility vehicles at an affordable cost.

The company is typically targeting two- and three-wheelers, which are extensively used for first- and last-mile connectivity in the country, and constitute the vast majority of motor vehicles here.

Valeo claims it is a pioneer in 48V EV and Hybrid Powertrain systems, which help significantly reduce CO2 emissions at an affordable price. The 48V systems from Valeo are ideal for two- and three-wheeler electrification in India.

The company’s Special Vehicle Application team in France, along with the one in India, is already working with key local players to introduce this technology in the market, said the company.

Valeo is an automotive supplier, and a partner to all automakers worldwide. Present since 1997 in India, Valeo has developed a very strong footprint in the country during the past 20 years. Valeo today has eight production sites, one global R&D centre, five distribution platforms and a front office to serve clients. It employs over 6,000 people in India, of which nearly 50 per cent are engineers.
