At least 17 people were injured today after clash between workers and security personnel of Tata Steel at its Kalinganagar site. Sources said, the contractual workers were agitating against payment of overtime and other issues in the plant premises when the clash took place.
The security forces had to fire bullets to quell the agitators and in the process injured two workers. However, Tata Steel said no person was injured due to firing. "The security staff had to resort to firing in the air to ward off the attacking workers," it said.
