Cops serving in Maoist areas may get special package: Ram Shinde

Around 96 policemen have been identified and their families would get all benefits

The Maharashtra government is considering a special three-year package to policemen serving in Maoist-affected areas, state minister Ram Shinde said here today.

Talking to reporters, the minister said that presently 1.5 per cent incentive is applicable to policemen serving in Maoist areas. The state government is also thinking in terms of introducing a three-year incentive, about which a decision would be made shortly, he added.

The state government plans to give special benefits to family members of policemen who lost their life in Maoist incidents in 2005.

Around 96 policemen have been identified and their families would get all benefits, the minister, who toured Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts, said.
