Coronavirus doubling rate improves to 7.5 days; 18 states and UTs do better

Odisha and Kerala reported 39.8 days and 72.2 days as their doubling time for new cases, says health ministry.

The pace at India’s coronavirus cases double has improved to 7.5 days in the past week, compared to 3.4 days before the country was locked down to contain the disease, said health ministry on Monday.

As per data on April 19, at least 18 states and union territories (UT) did better than the national average, said Lav Agarwal, joint secretary in the health ministry at a media briefing in Delhi.

He said that the states and UTs where the doubling time is less than 20 days are Delhi where it is doubling in 8.5 days, Karnataka in 9.2 days, Telangana
