Data story: India logs 2,338 new Covid cases; death toll at 524,630

India reported an increase of 185 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 17, 883. The country is fifty-sixth among the most affected countries by active cases. On May 31, it added 2,338 cases to take its total caseload to 43,158,087. And, with 19 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,630, or 1.22 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,333,064 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on May 30, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,934,519,805. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,615,574 — or 98.75 per cent of total caseload — with 2,134 new cured cases being reported on May 31.
