Data story: India logs 2,338 new Covid cases; death toll at 524,630

India has so far administered 1,934,519,805 vaccine doses

India reported an increase of 185 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 17, 883. The country is fifty-sixth among the most affected countries by active cases. On May 31, it added 2,338 cases to take its total caseload to 43,158,087. And, with 19 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,630, or 1.22 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,333,064 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on May 30, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,934,519,805. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,615,574 — or 98.75 per cent of
