Goa State Pollution Control Board will assist hotels along the beach belt secure a consent under the Air and Water Pollution (control) Act to run their establishments. A recent order by National Green Tribunal (NGT) has made it mandatory for all the hotels to have a consent under the Act.

For this, a special drive will begin this week in Candolim-Calangute belt, which has one of the highest density of the hotels, GSPCB chairman Jose Manual Noronha said yesterday. The response to notices issued to hotels has been poor as smaller establishments like beach shacks and eateries are not aware about this mandatory certificate required, Noronha said.
