Odisha bags 'Krishi Karman' award

Odisha has bagged the 'Krishi Karman' award for being the best performing state in overall foodgrains production among Category-II states. The award was received by chief minister Naveen Patnaik from President Pranab Mukherjee during a ceremony of the 'World Forestry' conference in New Delhi. The award consists of a trophy, a citation and a cash amount of Rs two crore.
Odisha achieved a record foodgrains production of 11.4 million tonne during 2012-13. Two Odia farmers- Pradip Kumar Panda and Khitisuta Mishra were also honoured.
