The Warangal Municipal Corporation (WMC) has installed a solar power system on the rooftop of its main office building. The 27 KW solar photovoltaic power generating system will power the ground floor of the office to run all lighting, fans and computer loads for eight hours every day.
The system, installed by Hyderabad-based Instruments Techniques Private Limited ITPL, will generate around 125 KWh (units) of electrical energy each day on average that will amount to around 40,000 units or more every year.
Backward Classes welfare minister, B Saraiah, inaugurated the solar power plant on the rooftop which is claimed to be a first such initiative undertaken by a municipal corporation in the state.
