Uttar Pradesh Assembly has passed the vote on account pegged at Rs 54,762 crore for the first four months of the 2012-13 financial year through voice vote.
The vote on account was necessitated, since Assembly poll is due early next year. This provision ensures enough finances at the disposal of the government to run administration and incur expenditure on various items for a part of the year till the new regime is sworn in.
The passage of vote of account in Assembly was also reckoned as winning confidence vote by the Mayawati government following submission of no-confidence notice to assembly speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar by Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party.
Meanwhile, according to budgetary estimates for the next financial year, which were tabled in the house, the government expects total receipts of Rs 1,91,825 crore against total expenditure of Rs 1,86,221 crore, which means a saving of Rs 5,604 crore.
Receipts, include Rs 1,56,576 crore of revenue receipts, Rs 34,630 crore of public debt and Rs 618 crore from realisation of loans and advances.
Under the revenue receipts head of Rs 1,56,576 crore, Rs 62,057 crore would accrue from state taxes, Rs 59,707 crore from state share in central taxes, non-tax revenue of Rs 14,173 crore and central grant of Rs 20,638 crore.
The budgetary estimates talk about Rs 1,86,221 crore of expenditure during 2012-13, including plan and non-plan heads of Rs 47,351 crore and Rs ,38,870 crore respectively.
Revenue and capital expenditure would comprise Rs 1,44,405 crore and Rs 41,816 crore respectively.
