Supporters of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan today staged a protest here against the Election Commission which has banned the leader from campaigning in Uttar Pradesh.
"The protesters who had come from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh reached Jantar Mantar here in the morning to stage a protest. The demonstration ended in the afternoon," said Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) S B S Tyagi.
The demonstrators termed the ban on Khan as one against freedom of speech and demanded its immediate revocation.
EC had banned Azam Khan on April 11 from campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly making provocative speeches.
