Popular Urdu daily Siasat's Editor Zahed Ali Khan today formally quit the Telugu Desam Party, protesting its tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Khan resigned from the TDP membership and also its politburo of which he was a member, party sources said.

He faxed his resignation letter to the TDP headquarters.

He had been staying away from the party for the past few months ever since the TDP got ready to realign with the BJP.

Khan had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election from Hyderabad as TDP candidate in 2009.

His son Amer Ali Khan recently joined the YSR Congress and is seeking to contest the April 30 election from Secunderabad parliamentary constituency.
