As on date National Security Guard (NSG) is providing mobile security cover to 15 protectees. NSG has requested that it may be relieved of VIP security duties to concentrate on its primary role of counter terrorism, hostage rescue and counter hijack.
At present, this Ministry does not propose to withdraw NSG security cover from the present 15 protectees. Other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have also been deployed in providing security to many protectees.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary in a written reply to Shri Rajendra Agrawal in the Lok Sabha today.
