Copper rises 0.1% on spot demand

Prices rose as speculators covered-up their short positions

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper futures for April traded higher by 45 paise, or 0.11%, to Rs 412.35 per kg in 2,638 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the June contract edged up by 40 paise, or 0.10%, to Rs 419 per kg in 173 lots.

Prices rose as speculators covered-up their short positions amid pick-up in spot demand.

However, metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME), limited the gains.

At LME, the three months' contract dropped 0.5% to $7,572.25 a tonne.
