Jeera prices rose by Rs 77.50 to Rs 13620 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by a rise in overseas demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July rose by Rs 77.50, or 0.57%, to Rs 13,620 per quintal, with an open interest of 963 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contract traded higher by Rs 30, or 0.22%, to Rs 13,842.50 per quintal in 17,283 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to increased buying by speculators on pick up in overseas demand.
