Markets off day's low

The Sensex slipped to a low of 16,495. The index is off the day's at 16,548 - down 171 points.

The Nifty is down 49 points at 4,920.

Infosys has shed 4% at Rs 2,270.

Metal stock, Hindalco has slipped 3.5% to Rs 130. Tata Steel has dropped 3% to Rs 506. Sterlite is down 2.3% at Rs 751.

DLF has declined 2.7% to Rs 412. Jaiprakash Associates is down 2% at Rs 229.

Auto stocks have declined around 2% each. Grasim, BHEL, Tata Power, ACC, Reliance and ICICI Bank have slipped 1-2% each.

Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel has gained 2% at Rs 421. ITC has added 1% to Rs 233.

 

The market breadth is negative. Out of 2,386 stocks traded 1,541 have declined while 773 have advanced.
