Potato falls almost 3% on low demand

Prices extended losses as traders reduced their positions

Potato futures for May fell by Rs 27.40, or 2.71%, to Rs 983.50 per quintal in 139 lots.   

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the April contract traded lower by Rs 17.60, or 1.76%, to Rs 978.10 per quintal in 26 lots.

Prices extended losses as traders reduced their positions amid adequate stocks in the spot market on increased arrivals.

Trading sentiment weakened further as traders offloaded their positions due to low domestic market demand.
