Sensex down 426pts; Sterlite slumps 7%

The Sensex is now down 426 points at 13,122.

Ranbaxy has slumped 8.5% to Rs 271. Sterlite has plunged over 7% to Rs 443, and Grasim has tumbled 6% to Rs 1,755.

ICICI Bank, BHEL, DLF and Mahindra & Mahindra have shed 5% each at Rs 565, Rs 1,551, Rs 370 and Rs 531, respectively.

Tata Steel, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have dropped over 4.5% each to Rs 462, Rs 348 and Rs 100, respectively.

Infosys and HDFC Bank have slipped nearly 4% each to Rs 1,445 and Rs 1,248, respectively.

SBI and Larsen & Toubro have declined 3.7% each to Rs 1,438 and Rs 2,472, respectively.

 

ITC has surged 2.3% to Rs 193, and Hindustan Unilever is up over 1% at Rs 253.

Out of 2,647 stocks traded so far, 2,166 have declined, 414 have advanced and 67 are unchanged.
