Sensex up around 700pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 706 points at 11,234.

ICICI Bank has zoomed 20% to Rs 437. Reliance Infrastructure has soared nearly 13% to Rs 582, and Sterlite has surged 12% to Rs 307.

TCS has rallied 11.5% to Rs 583, and Satyam has gained 10.5% at Rs 276.

HDFC Bank has moved up 9.7% to Rs 1,148. Hindalco and Bharti Airtel have advanced around 9% each to Rs 88 and Rs 753, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Communications have added 8.5% each to Rs 505 and Rs 257, respectively.

DLF has gained 7.8% at Rs 304. Tata Steel and Infosys are up 7.5% each at Rs 309 and Rs 1,318, respectively.

 

Ranbaxy is down 1.7% at Rs 288.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,508 stocks traded so far, 1,541 have advanced, 914 have declined and 53 are unchanged.
