Zinc up 0.8% on overseas cues

Prices edged up as speculators enlarged positions

Zinc futures for May went up by 80 paise, or 0.82%, to Rs 98.80 per kg in 3,771 lots

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the June contract rose by 75 paise, or 0.76%, to Rs 99.85 per kg in 209 lots.

Prices edged up as speculators enlarged positions.

Taking positive cues from global markets and better domestic demand,

At the London Metal Exchange (LME), zinc climbed 0.7% to $1,853 per tonne.

Marketmen said improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in base metals overseas, supported the rise in zinc futures here.
