5,624 motorists prosecuted in Delhi on Holi day
Of these, more than 2000 were charged for driving without a helmet, and almost 2,0000 for drunk driving

On March 24, the day of Holi, as many as 5,624 motorists were prosecuted in the national capital for various traffic offences, Special Commissioner of Police Muktesh Chander said in a statement.
Of these, 313 were booked for overspeeding, 218 for dangerous driving, 1,941 for drunk driving and 2,129 for driving without wearing helmets, 499 for riding triple on two-wheelers, 130 for wrong-side driving and 294 for other offences.
Till late Wednesday night, the traffic police reported 558 drunken driving cases, with the highest 264 cases in South Delhi.
