Flood situation continues to remain critical in Assam

In Assam, the overall flood situation remained critical for the consecutive third day on Tuesday. Official sources said that over 8 lakh people have been submerged in 18 districts.

Several rivers including the Brahmaputra are maintaining a rising trend at many places including Guwahati.

Ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati has been suspended. Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner said that, situation still remains critical at Dibrugarh city.

He said that relief material has been given in affected areas. Roads communications disrupted in flood affected districts.

A mother and her daughter were killed in landslide at Amingaon near Guwahati this morning while another death has been reported due to drowning in Tinsukia district.

 

Over 51 thousand people are staying at 183 relief camps. Surging water overtopped national and state highways at many places.

National parks and wildlife sanctuaries have also been inundated. Wild animals have shifted to highland areas.
