Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Central Government to carve out a separate state of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.
The Supreme Court will be taking up the petition on Friday.
Reddy had resigned as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and had also quit the Congress Party. He had also criticised the Congress and said the new state of Telangana was being created simply for votebank politics.
The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill or the Telangana Bill was passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha amidst protests from MP's belonging to Seemandhara region.
