Pakistani education activist and student Malala Yousafzai's book launch in north-west Pakistan has been cancelled following direct intervention by the provincial government, organizers said.
Meanwhile, the police and provincial officials said it was halted over security concerns, the BBC reports.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said he could not understand the reason behind the decision of stopping the book launch.
Mr Khan's PTI party heads the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of which Peshawar is the capital.
Malala Yousafzai had been shot by the Taliban in her head in October 2012, while on her school bus, for campaigning to promote girls' education.
She was taken to UK for treatment and now lives with her family in the British city of Birmingham.
Malala has described the memoir, "I am Malala", as her own story and that of millions of others denied the chance to go to school.
