In the wake of continuing anti-government protests, Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych has reportedly accepted the resignation of prime minister Mykola Azarov and his cabinet.
In an attempt to pacify protestors and create "social and political compromise", Azarov had offered to step down as prime minister.
The decision was taken after Ukrainian parliament members voted in favour of the withdrawal of a controversial anti-protest law, that along with other measures, banned protestors from wearing helmets and blockading public buildings, the BBC reported.
Accused of mismanaging the economy by the opposition, Azarov faced extreme hostility from protestors following his comments in November, describing demonstrators as extremists.
