Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) senior leader Devendra Rana on Friday stated that his party is willing to offer the People's Democratic Party (PDP) 'unconditional support' to form the state government, adding that the ball is now in the court of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.

The NC leader's statement came after the PDP emerged as the single largest party in the recently held state assembly elections but fell short of the required number of seats to form the government.

"The PDP has emerged as the single largest party in this fractured mandate. In order to give a stable government to Jammu and Kashmir, we offer them our complete and unconditional support to form the government, respecting the public mandate," Rana told ANI.

"We have conveyed this offer to the PDP. Now it is for them to decide," he added.

Rana's statement comes hours after former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and NC leader Omar Abdullah had refuted a report about his sending a letter, extending support to the PDP for forming the state government.

"Looks like PDP is playing mind games with the BJP leaking about a letter of NC support that doesn't exist. Only a verbal offer conveyed," he had tweeted.

In the assembly elections, the PDP had emerged as the single largest party, securing 28 seats in the five-phased assembly elections, while the BJP bagged 25. The NC, however, won only 17 seats.
