PM Modi condoles Indonesia's Surabaya church attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a five-day three-nation visit has conveyed his deepest condolence over the May 13 "horrific" Surabaya church attacks in Indonesia.

Prime Minister Modi is on a three-nation visit to South-East countries- Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to consolidate India's ties with three important strategic partners in the Southeast Asia region.

"PM Modi had conveyed his deepest condolence for the horrific terror attack in Surabaya. The two leaders together realised that it is time once again for the global community to come together to combat terrorism," MEA Secretary (East) Preeti Saran said, during a media briefing in Jakarta.

 

On May 13, family including their four children carried out the suicide attacks on three churches in Surabaya, Indonesia's East Java province killing seven people.

The Islamic State (IS) claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim country which has been struggling with a rise in Islamist militancy.
