Resentment in TMC outcome of Mamata's 'dictatorship': BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleged that there is resentment in the 'sinking ship' Trinamool Congress (TMC) because of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's dictatorial attitude.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said the TMC is a sinking ship and added that whosoever will sit in it will sink.

"So, nobody is seeing any future there (in the TMC). There is resentment in the MPs and MLAs there because of Mamaji's work. There is no democracy in the Trinamool Congress," said Hussain.

"Mamataji's party works under her orders. There is outrage in the party because of her dictatorial attitude," he added.

Hussain also alleged that there is anger in the people of West Bengal because the Trinamool Congress has failed to deliver the promises that it made.

He further said the TMC's reputation has been tainted in the state because of the Saradha chit-fund scam.

The BJP leader's comment came a day after Mamata brought about a major reshuffle of the TMC organization and virtually clipped the wings of party general secretary Mukul Roy, who was recently grilled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Saradha scam.

The TMC boss, who yesterday brought about a major reshuffle of the organization, made her close associate Subrata Bakshi the new All-India additional general secretary of the party and elevated Dinesh Trivedi to the vice-president's post.

Roy, who has been made to share responsibility with Bakshi, did not attend the meeting convened at Mamata's residence to discuss the TMC's preparedness for the upcoming civic polls.
