Congress president Sonia Gandhi lauded ace shuttler Saina Nehwal over her win in India Open Super Series Badminton tournament and said that she was an inspiration for millions.
"I join our country men and women in expressing pride and delight at your tremendous achievement- You have shown that Indians are second to none if we put our minds to it. You are an example to millions of our young girls and boys who dream of excellence and success," said Gandhi.
The Congress supremo also conveyed her best wishes to the ace badminton player's parents.
Earlier on Sunday, Nehwal lifted the singles crown of the India Open Super Series Badminton tournament.
Nehwal defeated former world champion Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon 21-16, 21-14 in the final at the Siri Fort Indoor Complex.
In the Men's final, second ranked Srikanth is slated to meet sixth-ranked Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
