Coordinator for Sankalp Special School, Nina George, said the programme was part of the community services undertaken and coordinated by the Navy Wives Welfare Association, Kochi.

"Today we are here on INS Tir for a ship visit. This is done every year and the kids really look forward to this visit because they would never get a chance like this to come into the navy every year," said George.

A string of events have been organised in the run-up to Navy Day on December 04, which commemorates the attack by the Indian Navy at Karachi harbor in the 1971 war.

The southern naval base will be opened to the public for three days from November 20, providing people an opportunity to take a look into the activities and the role played in safeguarding the seas.
