Bangladesh Naval ship begins four-day visit to city

Bangladesh Naval Ship BNS Somudra Joy (Hamilton Class frigate) has begun its four-day visit here.

Cmde Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhary, Director of Naval Training (DNT (BN)) is the senior officer on board the foreign ship which arrived here yesterday.

Commander A K M Afzal Hossain is the Commanding Officer of the ship.

A Navy release said both officials, accompanied by the Resident DA of Bangladesh Brigadier General M D Abdul Hamid today called on Vice-Admiral Sunil Lanba, Flag Officer Commanding-In-Chief, Southern Naval Command and Rear Admiral R B Pandit, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command.

The Navy said that during the visit, various interactions with the Southern Naval Command have been planned.
 

Other interaction includes exchange of visits by specialist officers and men from both the navies, it said.

Indian Navy personnel would visit the newly inducted Bangladesh Naval ship and Bangladesh Navy personnel would be visiting the training facilities at Southern Naval Command, the release said.

BNS Somudra Joy is presently on the way to Chittagong after having participated in the 'Ex Ferocious Falcon' in Bahrain.

The ship plans to depart from Kochi on June 10.
