16 dead in Uttarakhand accident

At least 16 people were killed and six injured Wednesday when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh area, police said.

The accident occurred between Dharchula and Dobat in Pithoragarh, 225 km from Dehradun, the Uttarakhand capital.

Of the 22 travelling in a Bolero vehicle, six have been rescued and were being treated at a community health centre, where their condition is stated to be critical.
