Ten members of a family were killed Tuesday when their vehicle fell into an irrigation canal in Punjab's Amritsar district, police said.
The victims included five children and two women.
The family belonged to Akku Maste Ke village of Ferozepur district, 80 km from here, and had come here to attend a wedding.
The accident happened near Ajnala town when the family was returning home.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic demise of all 10 people in the accident.
He announced an ex gratia grant of Rs.1 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
