Indefinite curfew imposed in Imphal

Authorities imposed an indefinite in Manipur's West and East districts on Tuesday amid an ongoing strike against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

The orders for the were issued on Monday night by N. Praveen Singh, the of West, and Chitra Devi, the of East.

Praveen asked local TV channels to refrain from telecasting any report or image which will lead to deterioration of the law and order situation in the state capital.

The 36-hour strike was called by activists on Sunday night.

Shops, business establishments and offices remained closed. Police teams were moving around the city using loud speakers asking people to remain indoors.
