Jason Derulo not intimidated by girlfriend's success

Singer-songwriter Jason Derulo said he is not intimidated by his girlfriend Jordin Sparks' fame.

The 23-year-old, who has been dating the former 'American Idol' winner for two years, admits it takes a lot of "confidence" to go out with his girlfriend, reports contactmusic.com.

"Going out with a woman as successful as Jordin takes a lot of confidence for a guy. You have to be sure in yourself to deal with it. I feel I can still be that protective figure without feeling insecure about what she does," Cosmopolitan magazine quoted him as saying.

He also revealed that he was a womaniser before his relationship with Sparks, but after suffering a broken neck during a tour rehearsal in 2012 helped him put everything, particularly his romantic life, into perspective.

 

He explained: "Before the accident, I was more reckless in relationships. I was a guy in my early twenties having fun. I wasn't really looking for love, but my injury woke me up."

"Jordin and I had been friends for a long time and I definitely liked her. The injury made me pay attention - it was like someone saying, 'Hey, wake up!'," added Derulo.
