Telecom companies have registered their protest with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India against a new regulation on compensation for call drops. In a joint letter, the association bodies of telecom companies said these regulations were unprecedented and grossly unjust.

Are passengers compensated by the Indian Railways when trains are delayed or cancelled? Are water or electricity supply boards/companies liable to compensate consumers for deficient supply of water or electricity? If these services are exempt, why are telecom companies liable, they questioned.
