A young Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who headed an urban body in the state capital of Chhattisgarh had been “threatening” his subordinates that he would post them to Naxal-infested areas if there were any lapses in their work. As it turned out, the joke was on him. After the recent unrest in Dantewada district, the District Collector was removed. Instead of being penalised for security lapses on his watch, the Collector was given with an important post in the state capital — and it was the young IAS officer who was sent as his replacement.
