One person died and two others went missing after a boat capsized in a river at Baharampur in West Bengal's Murshidabad district today, while 10 others were saved by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
A man, who was rescued and taken to a nearby health centre, was declared dead. Two others are missing despite thorough search by BSF Water Wing personnel and civilians, a statement from the BSF said.
On seeing a country boat carrying 20 top 25 people from Beespara village suddenly beginning to capsize, BSF personnel rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation, it said.
"BSF personnel rescued 10 persons with the help of a speed boat. Rest of the persons were rescued by local people with the help of country-made boat," the statement said.
