A 10-year-old boy, who was allegedly kidnapped from south Delhi's R K Puram area by his uncle in order to settle scores with the victim's father and to get a ransom of Rs 30 lakh, was safely rescued by the police.
Sunil, the mastermind of the case who is the cousin of the victim's father is on the run and efforts are on to nab him. Three of his associates have been arrested. The motor cycle and mobile phone used in crime has also been recovered, police said.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon when one Raju, a resident of RK Puram, reported the matter to the police.

"At around 12 noon, he received a call wherein the caller threatened him that his son has been kidnapped by him and made ransom money of Rs 30 lakh. The caller threatened him that if his demand is not met by 5 pm he will kill the child. Immediately, he cross checked the whereabouts of his son from the school from where he was found to be missing," said DCP (south) Prem Nath.
Police registered a case and took up investigation during which the complainant got another ransom call. Police asked the complainant to settle down the ransom money from Rs 30 lakh to Rs five lakh.
The Kidnapper asked the complainant to arrange the money and wait for his next call and switched off the mobile phone.
The police team tracked the caller somewhere in Udyog Vihar, Mangolpuri. Immediately, a raid was conducted in the area and intensive hunt was conducted to locate the accused person.
Meanwhile, the complainant received another call from kidnapper who asked him to reach under Zakhira Bridge for delivery of ransom. The police team reached the spot and a trap was laid down under Zakhira Bridge. The complainant with ransom money boarded an auto and went to the place fixed by the kidnapper. The complainant was discretely followed by another police team.
