Twelve persons of an inter-state gang, allegedly involved in stealing mobiles, were today arrested and phones worth Rs 50 lakh seized from them, police said.
On a tip-off, five persons were arrested from Barabirwa in Krishna Nagar locality and upon receiving information from them, seven others were held later, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yashashvi Yadav said.
A total of 180 mobile phones worth Rs 50 lakh were seized from their possession.
Yadav said that the gang used to sell mobiles in different states and costly phones, which they suspected could be tracked through surveillance, were sold in Bangladesh.
