At least 14 persons were injured, including six seriously, in a fight between two groups over a disputed land at Tupamari village in Kamrup Rural district.
According to police officials, the land is a graveyard for the Muslim community donated by Abdul Shahid some years ago.
After his demise, his three sons wanted the land back, which led to recurring tension with other villagers.

This morning, when the three sons and some of their accomplishes tried to forcefully occupy the land, the people residing around the graveyard opposed it.
This resulted in a fight between the two groups in which at least 14 persons were injured.
The police said that six were critically injured and were sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment, while the rest were being treated at the local health centre.
Senior police officials said a a temporary police picket would be posted at the village.
