15 killed, 50 injured in rain, flooding in Egypt

At least 15 people died and nearly 50 were injured in heavy rains and flooding in Egypt today, officials said.

Seven persons were killed and 26 were injured in Ras Gharib city in Red Sea governorate, while six died and 24 were injured when two buses and three other vehicles overturned due to flooding in Qena-Sohag road in Upper Egypt.

Authorities closed off the road in some cities and towns after several vehicles were trapped in the flood waters.

A few schools were also closed due to the bad weather.

In the Suez Canal city of Ismailiya, two people died after being hit by lightning.
 

Rainfall and flooding cause damage to infrastructure during this time of the year.
