A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at Shahpur here when her lover refused to elope, the police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday. Her 20-year-old boyfriend has been booked for abatement of suicide, Station House Officer B P Yadav.
The girl wanted to elope as their parents had opposed their relationship, he said.
The officer said that the girl had been putting pressure on her friend to elope, but he had refused it.
The body has been sent for post mortem and the matter is being investigated, he said.
