Twenty people were injured when a city bus collided head on with a dumper on Raipur-Dhamtari road in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district today, police said.

The incident occurred near Saddani Darbar under Mana Basti police station limits when the city bus carrying around 40 passengers was heading towards Naya Raipur from here, City Superintendent of Police (Mana) Mukesh Khare told PTI.

When the bus reached near Saddani Darbar, it collided head on with the dumper coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision was so hard that police had to toil hard to extricate the injured trapped inside the mangled vehicles, he said.

Soon after the accident, locals informed the police and called emergency ambulance service.

"The injured were immediately rushed to MMI hospital, Lalpur. Condition of four injured, including the drivers of both the vehicles, was stated to be critical," the CSP said.

A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding that further probe is on.
