Mizoram Excise and Narcotics
Department officials seized 28 grams of heroin in Champhai district on the Mizoram-Myanmar border today and arrested a person in this connection.
A spokesperson of the department said Lalhriatpuii (38) of Chekkan village in Myanmar was arrested in connection with the seizure of the contraband, valued at around Rs 1.04 lakh in the local market.
The drug was smuggled from Myanmar through the porous 404-km international border Mizoram shares with that country, the spokesman said.
