Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today said MRI and CT scan machines have been made operational at four hospitals in the state under public-private partnership and would soon be installed in three more hospitals.

The three hospitals where these machines would be installed are Bhagat Phool Singh (BPS) Government Medical College for Women at Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat, Shaheed Hassan Khan Mewati Government Medical College at Nalhar in Mewat and Civil Hospital in Panipat, he said.

A new building is being constructed at Civil Hospital in Panipat and the CT scan machine would be installed there, Vij was quoted as saying in an official release here.

In the first phase, MRI and CT scan machines have been installed and operationalised at four civil hospitals in Panchkula, Bhiwani, Faridabad and Gurgaon, the minister said, adding, this would help provide healthcare facilities at a lower cost.

Free services are being provided to patients belonging to BPL category, scheduled caste, urban slum residents, those receiving disability allowance from the government, unattended road accident victims, state government employees, pensioners and their dependents and poor patients who do not belong to any of these categories, Vij said.

The cost of treatment of such patients is borne by the state Health Department, he added.

"Besides this, rates which have been finalised at each centre are less than half of those of the private centres. This facility is being provided in the state hospitals at the rates which are also much lower than those at Government Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh and PGIMER Chandigarh," he claimed.
