Three suspected terrorists were killed when explosive materials they were carrying on motorcycles exploded near a religious congregation in this Pakistani port city today.
Initial media reports said there were three suicide attacks on the congregation being held in Mangopir area of Karachi.
Later, senior police officials clarified there was no suicide attack. They said three suspected terrorists were killed while carrying explosive materials on two motorcycles.
"They were going on two motorcycles with the explosive materials. Due to some issue, the explosives blew up, killing them on the spot," SSP Imran Shaukat said.
Witnesses said the explosion occurred close to the religious congregation. Some people in the congregation were injured, they said.
