A number of countries, including China, have shown interest in joining hands with India on the Nalanda University for promoting it as an international institute, for which seven Asian countries today signed MoUs here.
Expressing its support for the project, China has indicated that it may sign an MoU with India for this international university during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's upcoming visit, a top official said today.
Briefing media after Singh's Brunei visit for ASEAN and East Asia summits (EAS), Secretary (East) in External Affairs Ministry Ashok Kantha said that ASEAN and EAS members and also many other countries, have expressed keen interest in the project.
"We are very encouraged with the positive response. India today signed MoUs with seven countries for this and many other countries want to sign. China has indicated to sign, and apart from EAS countries many others are also saying they may sign such an MoU at a later date," he said.
