At least four persons were killed and several others injured when the four-wheeler carrying them skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at a foggy place near Nichiphu on Bhalukpong-Tawang road today, the police said.
The passenger MUV was travelling from Itanagar and was on its way to Seppa, the headquarters of East Kameng district.
The accident occurred at around 1.30 PM when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp bend at Sydel, about five km ahead of Nichiphu, due to poor visibility, the police said.
The site of the accident remains foggy throughout the year.
The injured were taken to hospital and some of the seriously injured were taken to Tezpur in neighbouring Assam, the police added.
The deceased were identified as Kochi Tana, Nikam Tana, Tubin Tana and D Hiffo.
The body of the driver is yet to be located.
