Four poachers were today arrested with an elephant tusk and a rifle belonging to Assam Rifles in Birpara forest of West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.
Acting on a tip off, the four poachers were arrested by police while three others, who were with them, managed to flee, Ranger of Baikunthapur forest, Sanjay Dutta said.
The poachers had entered the forest last night in a vehicle, he said.
Besides the tusk and the rifle, equipment used to saw off tusks and rhino horns were also seized from them, Datta added.
